The Regroupement des organismes québécois pour hommes aggés sexuellement (ROQHAS) proudly announces the launch of its new training course, L’agression sexuelle au masculin : Parlons-en! This initiative aims to raise awareness among professionals who work with men, based on the latest research in the field.
It is estimated that between 435,000 and 870,000 men have lived sexual violence in Quebec. Unfortunately, the reality of male victims of sexual violence often remains unknown, minimized, or even denied. It is in this context that ROQHAS has decided to offer this new training course.
Objective
This training course aims to provide to professionals working with men users an introduction to the population of men who have lived sexual violence and reflexions on intervention with these men. It will address the particularities of men who have lived sexual violence, the myths conveyed about these men, the services offered to this population and the issues of masculinities, victimization and disclosure.
This is an opportunity for awareness and learning that will encourage an open, inclusive and constructive dialogue on the reality of men who have lived sexual violence.
Let’s talk about it!
The training L’agression sexuelle au masculin : Parlons-en! will be offered in the different regions of Quebec, both in person and online, in order to facilitate access to as many people as possible. The training lasts approximately 4 hours. With the financial support of the Secrétariat à la condition féminine, this training is free. This flexible approach will allow participants to follow the training according to their availability and specific needs.
The ROQHAS invites all interested persons to consult this page for more information on this training and on the registration procedures. This is an opportunity to have a discussion space dedicated to the reality of men who have lived sexual violence in order to be confident about the issues and the intervention to adopt with these men. The ROQHAS hopes that this initiative will increase understanding of this issue and improve screening and increase support for these men.
Another step towards awareness
By offering this new training, ROQHAS is once again demonstrating its commitment to raising awareness among the population about men who have lived sexual violence and encouraging a more accurate understanding of their reality. It is time to break stereotypes and allow men to have a space to express themselves, rebuild themselves and regain their dignity.
